Chapter 19: A Rush To Get Home

   A deep yowl ripped through the night. The ThunderClan group looked around in bewilderment, Owlpaw calming them down with a smile. They padded through the forest, and across the rocky ground. The group traveled on, even though their paws ached and they were out of breath. Just their luck, it began to rain.

"Are we there Owlpaw?" Snakestar mewed over the rain.

Just as he said that, Owlpaw recognized the area. He signaled the Clan to stop and he ran ahead. He slowed down, not exactly sure about where he was. A blur of white, and a familiar cat appeared, hissing. It quieted down.

"Owlpaw?" It mewed. FlashingLights!

"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't recognize you through all of this rain."

Owlpaw shrugged and smiled.

"Why are you here?" She mewed.

Owlpaw touched her with his nose and started running to his Clan. She followed, asking him what was wrong. Owlpaw could see Snakestar's orange-yellow pelt from Fox lengths away. Owlpaw gave a greeting new and Snakestar turned.

"What took so long? Who is this?"

FlashingLights stepped forward.

"I'm FlashingLights, deputy of MountianClan. Owlpaw brought me here. What's up?"

"Well, I'm Snakestar of ThunderClan. I'm afraid we come here with bad news. Our Clan has disappeared, and we're looking for them. May we stay with you for the meantime?"

FlashingLights thought for a moment as a clap of thunder rang out, making Batpaw jump and his fur stick up.

"Yes, but I will have to ask BrightSun. For now it should be acceptable."

Snakestar bowed his head.

"Our Clan thanks you."

FlashingLights nodded and started running off, ThunderClan on her heels. They eventually came to the tunnel of bracken and FlashingLights stopped. She opened her mouth, tasting the air.

"What is it?" Batpaw yowled from the back.

"Something familiar...It could be a bear though."

Just as she mewed her answer, rustling in the bushes came from behind Batpaw, who shrieked and launched himself into Snakestar's paws. FlashingLights snuck forward and reached a fluffy paw toward the bush. She screamed as a black figure leaped out. FlashingLights stepped back. A pair of silver eyes glowed like the moon.

Owlpaw squinted. It was Rush, fur matted, wet, and dirty, and a strange half grin on his face. He looked at Owlpaw, swaying back and forth a little.

"What'd I miss?"
